Notre-Dame's first stone was laid in 1163 in the presence of Pope Alexander. The new building fell under the new art movement known as the gothic style
The cathedral is open every day of the year from 8:00 am to 6:45 pm (7:15 pm on Saturdays and Sundays).
Access to the cathedral is open and free of charge every day of the year, during the opening hours.
Reception - Information
The cathedral reception (in front of the entrance) is open :
Monday to Friday : from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
Saturdays and Sundays : from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm

Eucharistic Adoration*: Every Thursday after mass from 6:15 pm to 7:15 pm
*In summer (July and August) no 9:00 am mass Monday to Saturday and no Eucharistic adoration on Thursday evening.
Veneration of the Crown of Thorns and the Relics of the Passion : Every first Friday of the month and every Friday during Lent 3 p.m. On Good Friday, this veneration is held all day long.
Every day, priests are on hand at the chapel reception for spiritual counselling and/or giving the sacrament of pardon.

*During the summer (July and August), the reception is usually closed between 12:30 am and 3:00 pm

Religious article sales counter
There is a religious article sales counter located on the side of the nave, open every day from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm.
