The Budapest Puppet Theatre plays to both children and to adult audiences. Performances for children are significant literary works, the most popular European and Hungarian fables and fairy-tales, and works by foreign and Hungarian writers composed specially for puppet performances.
Puppet choreography with classical musical is performed for adult audiences. These internationally renowned productions employ the tools of modern puppetry.
The Hungarian State Puppet Theatre (Magyar Állami Bábszínház) was established in 1949. The first, and for a long time, the only professional Hungarian puppet theatre, it was succeeded by the Budapest Puppet Theatre in 1992.
